After a defensive mix-up in Western Springs FC's zone, Jess Bentley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hal Mackey came out of the goal and Jess Bentley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Taylor Wiley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hal Mackey having to interfere. Nikolas Papadamous showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garry Conn in the 33rd minute of the match. After 35 played minutes Jacksonville FC got a freekick which was hit by Ward Reaves. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lionel Egan in the 41st minute of play forced Jacksonville FC's goalkeeper Nikolas Papadamous to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
