Spectators: 8507 (Terracing: 6381, Seating: 1956, VIP seats: 170) Phyperstars FC's Mitch Dunn started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Mitch Dunn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phyperstars FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mitch Dunn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hal Mackey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 4 minutes into the match, Mitch Dunn notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey. Hal Mackey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emmanuel Corley got free with Russell Lund in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kerry McDonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Russell Lund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hal Mackey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mitch Dunn in the 11th minute of play. When Phyperstars FC's Mitch Dunn in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Russell Lund was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 25th minute Mitch Dunn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hal Mackey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hal Mackey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Woodrow Ricks, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Woodrow Ricks in the 29th minute of play forced Western Springs FC's goalkeeper Hal Mackey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mitch Dunn in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hal Mackey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ron McElroy in the 32nd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Western Springs FC's Emmanuel Corley slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Russell Lund. That made the score 2-1 after 33 minutes of play. In the 43rd minute, Ron McElroy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry McDonald in the 46th minute of play forced Phyperstars FC's goalkeeper Russell Lund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The audience was convinced that Kerry McDonald's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Russell Lund was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Woodrow Ricks fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hal Mackey having to interfere. The supporters of Phyperstars FC booed when Western Springs FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Colby Saucedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rodger Emerson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hal Mackey having to make a save. After 65 minutes, Lionel Egan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Western Springs FC and the Phyperstars FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Western Springs FC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Lionel Egan hit a great ball. Rodger Emerson hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Emmanuel Corley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Russell Lund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lionel Egan got his second yellow card in the match during the 78th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 79th match minute, Western Springs FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lionel Egan to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emmanuel Corley in the 85th minute of play forced Phyperstars FC's goalkeeper Russell Lund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 93 minutes, Garry Conn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Western Springs FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Garry Conn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96thth minute of the game Emmanuel Corley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Phyperstars FC's Russell Lund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Western Springs FC had won after a very even match.
