The audience thought a goal was coming when Lanny Gilmore got free with Lonnie Blankenship in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Lanny Gilmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elliott Bogren charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elliott Bogren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd match minute, Colonie FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elliott Bogren to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Santos FC's zone, Teodoro Uster stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aaron Smallwood came out of the goal and Teodoro Uster tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lanny Gilmore was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tyron Velasquez in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lonnie Blankenship saved Colonie FC from getting behind. Lonnie Blankenship showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 60th minute of the match. If Lanny Gilmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 64 minutes of play, Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lonnie Blankenship was left in no man's land by his defense there! 70 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Teodoro Uster came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lanny Gilmore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Lonnie Blankenship tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antony Mooney made in the 81st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Brady Yeats. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Teodoro Uster managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colonie FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Teodoro Uster was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aaron Smallwood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lonnie Blankenship showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. In the 87th minute Santos FC were awarded a corner. Warren Ruiz went to the cornerflag to take it. Lonnie Blankenship took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Terence Nicholas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Santos FC booed when Colonie FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lincoln Li didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lanny Gilmore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Santos FC fully deserved thier win.
