In the 3rd match minute, Olimpia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xilo Cazarez to maneuver through the defense. Khilu Areguá Paraguay's Librado Zornoza couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 4th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Olimpia. Tallia Marsella hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. In the 14th minute Olimpia were awarded a corner. Xandro Vaya went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Xandro Vaya got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Frichoso Meneses quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 16th minute Cristobal Ituarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eudoxio Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eudoxio Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristobal Ituarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Zarbonin Cordovilla came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Olimpia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zarbonin Cordovilla couldn't finish the play. Eudoxio Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Balasi Cerrabe, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. 34 minutes into the match, Olimpia's goal looked a bit too open when Balasi Cerrabe came free, but Eudoxio Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tallia Marsella fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eudoxio Cordoba having to interfere. Eudoxio Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Balasi Cerrabe in the 41st minute of play. Zarbonin Cordovilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Frichoso Meneses tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Olimpia booed when Khilu Areguá Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Regis Robires didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Cristobal Ituarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Eudoxio Cordoba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eudoxio Cordoba made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Balasi Cerrabe sent off a good shot on target. Cristobal Ituarte blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eudoxio Cordoba having to make a save. Balasi Cerrabe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Eudoxio Cordoba made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristobal Ituarte in the 72nd minute of play forced Olimpia's goalkeeper Eudoxio Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 76 minutes, Aristides Calona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olimpia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aristides Calona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frichoso Meneses showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zarbonin Cordovilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After a rather tough play, Olimpia's Aristides Calona got a free kick in the 82nd minute. 90 minutes into the match, Olimpia's goal looked a bit too open when Cristobal Ituarte came free, but Eudoxio Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aristides Calona struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Frichoso Meneses didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olimpia. In the 96th minute, Aristides Calona left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Olimpia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0.
