A very good chance. Goiz Selgas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcial Achutegui, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Francisco's goal looked a bit too open when Marcial Achutegui came free, but Goiz Selgas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Goiz Selgas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gipuzkoa Villafana in the 29th minute of the match. Marcial Achutegui fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Goiz Selgas having to interfere. Tancredo Sedillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Manuel Aedo made a huge save. In the 35th minute, Txurio Balladares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcial Achutegui recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 39 minutes into the match, Paraguay's Gipuzkoa Villafana sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Goiz Selgas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Francisco's Goiz Selgas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcial Achutegui in the 44th minute of play. After 45 minutes Francisco's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gipuzkoa Villafana who took care of the corner kick. A collision led to Francisco getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Vennancio Arellanes hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Gipuzkoa Villafana made the kick off in the second half. Xepe Hermo struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Goiz Selgas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. Tipi Orantes charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tipi Orantes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tipi Orantes kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 88th minute Gipuzkoa Villafana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Goiz Selgas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Theodore Cullar in the 90th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Paraguay's Sergio Junco. After some careless play in the Paraguay defense, Tancredo Sedillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manuel Aedo. The Paraguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manuel Aedo should have stopped the shot.
