The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristobal Ituarte in the 2nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristofol Achueta saved Sanguina from getting behind. A collision led to Sanguina getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Zoilo Ibar hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, Khilu Areguá Paraguay's Cristofol Achueta threw himself towards the right post 10 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristobal Ituarte, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Khilu Areguá Paraguay's zone, Xinto Barrientos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frichoso Meneses came out of the goal and Xinto Barrientos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Frichoso Meneses showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cris Molinillo in the 15th minute of the match. In the last second Cristofol Achueta throw himself and got hold of the ball when Cristobal Ituarte in the 19thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Frichoso Meneses made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xinto Barrientos in the 21st minute of play. Cristobal Ituarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Cristofol Achueta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cristobal Ituarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Cristobal Ituarte came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Khilu Areguá Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristobal Ituarte couldn't finish the play. If Balasi Cerrabe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristofol Achueta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristobal Ituarte in the 47th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristobal Ituarte to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Cris Molinillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frichoso Meneses saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bordat Guais's late challenge caught a Khilu Areguá Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bordat Guais helped the player get up and apologised. Bordat Guais hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Xinto Barrientos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frichoso Meneses having to interfere. Sanguina's Bordat Guais got his second yellow card of the match in the 74th minute. The referee ordered Bordat Guais off the ground. The supporters of Khilu Areguá Paraguay booed when Sanguina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bordat Guais didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th minute Cristobal Ituarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristofol Achueta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 79th minute Khilu Areguá Paraguay were awarded a corner. Librado Zornoza went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Khilu Areguá Paraguay's corner Librado Zornoza fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cristofol Achueta quite easily take care of the ball. Balasi Cerrabe kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Cristobal Ituarte blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cristofol Achueta having to make a save. Cristofol Achueta came out of the goal and Balasi Cerrabe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
