Spectators: 8007 (Terracing: 6007, Seating: 1841, VIP seats: 159) After a rather tough play, LA GALAXY's Rico Giraldez got a free kick in the 7th minute. LA GALAXY's Rico Giraldez got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 12th match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Txurio Teijeira to maneuver through the defense. When Xamo Zucunza came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the LA GALAXY fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xamo Zucunza couldn't finish the play. 18 minutes into the match, LA GALAXY's goal looked a bit too open when Gipuzkoa Villafana came free, but Gilabert Cuenia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Gipuzkoa Villafana left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Manuel Aedo came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by LA GALAXY's Xamo Zucunza. But to his dismay, Xamo Zucunza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Gilabert Cuenia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gipuzkoa Villafana, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Gipuzkoa Villafana had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gilabert Cuenia. LA GALAXY's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gipuzkoa Villafana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Xamo Zucunza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Manuel Aedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 37 minutes, Marcial Achutegui mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paraguay and the LA GALAXY players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Marcial Achutegui hit a great ball. Gipuzkoa Villafana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilabert Cuenia having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in LA GALAXY's zone, Sergio Junco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilabert Cuenia came out of the goal and Sergio Junco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the game, LA GALAXY's Osoitz Arganza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Manuel Aedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gipuzkoa Villafana was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, LA GALAXY's goal looked a bit too open when Gipuzkoa Villafana came free, but Gilabert Cuenia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Xamo Zucunza managed to get in a good position for a shot. LA GALAXY's supporters rose to their feet, but Xamo Zucunza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manuel Aedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the LA GALAXY defense, Sergio Junco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilabert Cuenia. The LA GALAXY fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilabert Cuenia should have stopped the shot. Gipuzkoa Villafana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Txurio Teijeira might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilabert Cuenia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Txurio Teijeira ran back to his position shaking his head. If Gipuzkoa Villafana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes in the game, Gipuzkoa Villafana fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Gilabert Cuenia having to interfere.
