Cerro Porteño's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Curuzu the free kick. Eron Vall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bastian Lance had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Bastian Lance managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curuzu's supporters rose to their feet, but Bastian Lance was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulin Ungia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eron Vall in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulin Ungia saved Cerro Porteño from getting behind. When Bastian Lance came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Curuzu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bastian Lance couldn't finish the play. Ximenez Lario could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Semeno Biosca made a huge save. 38 minutes into the match, Curuzu's Bastian Lance sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulin Ungia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ximenez Lario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Semeno Biosca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After 48 played minutes Cerro Porteño got a freekick which was hit by Aldo Ardazun. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some careless play in the Cerro Porteño defense, Bastian Lance kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulin Ungia. The Cerro Porteño fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulin Ungia should have stopped the shot. Bastian Lance fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulin Ungia having to interfere. After having played for 75 minutes, Bastian Lance managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Curuzu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bastian Lance was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 83 minutes into the match, Curuzu's Bastian Lance sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulin Ungia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bastian Lance kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. If Bastian Lance had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. In the 89th minute of the match, Eron Vall tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Paulin Ungia saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Cerro Porteño's Chabier Horna got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Bastian Lance received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Paulin Ungia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eron Vall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Curuzu players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Cerro Porteño from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
