After a rather tough play, Paranambucu's Kaiet Renta got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Onofre Liaño made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javiero Laureano in the 18th minute of play. Yaniusky Mercadillo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Barea Mancobo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Barea Mancobo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yaniusky Mercadillo's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. After 24 minutes of play, Paranambucu's Leandro Villamediana made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Onofre Liaño was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 26 minutes, Eduardo Dorronsoro mouthed his way into the referee's book. Yaniusky Mercadillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barea Mancobo having to interfere. Yaniusky Mercadillo struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Barea Mancobo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mbutuy. After the first half Paranambucu were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yaniusky Mercadillo couldn't finish the play. After 82 played minutes Paranambucu got a freekick which was hit by Clodio Roncal. Barea Mancobo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yaniusky Mercadillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barea Mancobo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yaniusky Mercadillo's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Barea Mancobo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mouricio Herencia in the 88th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Paranambucu's zone, Yaniusky Mercadillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barea Mancobo came out of the goal and Yaniusky Mercadillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
