An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Téllez in the 20th minute of play forced Punta Cana's goalkeeper Guillermo Salazar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Punta Cana's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Barela came free, but Guillermo Salazar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute Edmundo Téllez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guillermo Salazar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Punta Cana's zone, Edmundo Téllez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guillermo Salazar came out of the goal and Edmundo Téllez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Club Atlético Univ. UASD booed when Punta Cana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liver Radford didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jack Calderón kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Harry Brask sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Punta Cana's Guillermo Salazar didn't even have to move. In the 37th match minute, Punta Cana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jack Calderón to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 38 minutes, Leo Barela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atlético Univ. UASD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leo Barela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Duaner Barreiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 45 played minutes Duaner Barreiro rounded Club Atlético Univ. UASD's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leo Barela was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matthew Mejía in the 54th minute of play forced Club Atlético Univ. UASD's goalkeeper Eelco Rogaars to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yoel Precht charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Yoel Precht the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Club Atlético Univ. UASD getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Yoel Precht hit a great ball. 62 minutes into the match, Edmundo Téllez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Guillermo Salazar. Punta Cana's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edmundo Téllez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. 65 minutes into the match, Punta Cana's goalkeeper Guillermo Salazar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yoel Precht. 68 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Univ. UASD's Leo Barela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guillermo Salazar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 69th minute, Edmundo Téllez made a precise shot to the right of Guillermo Salazar. Punta Cana's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leo Barela in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guillermo Salazar saved Punta Cana from getting behind. A collision led to Club Atlético Univ. UASD getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Leo Barela hit a great ball. Duaner Barreiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eelco Rogaars having to interfere. Edmundo Téllez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Guillermo Salazar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guillermo Salazar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edmundo Téllez in the 91st minute. Guillermo Salazar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leo Barela in the 95th minute of the match. Edmundo Téllez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Club Atlético Univ. UASD's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
