An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgilio Reyna in the 5th minute of play forced Duarte's goalkeeper Octavio Del Rio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valentin Lagos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolomé Minaya, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Baudelio Casas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the game, Bahía's Baudelio Casas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Octavio Del Rio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Hernando Carrión fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valentin Lagos having to interfere. Hernando Carrión could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Valentin Lagos made a huge save. Hernando Carrión received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Valentin Lagos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Duarte's goal looked a bit too open when Baudelio Casas came free, but Octavio Del Rio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Florencio Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by Duarte's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Herminio Figueroa was slow to take the kick. During this time Bahía's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Herminio Figueroa got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Octavio Del Rio quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 47th minute Bartolomé Minaya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valentin Lagos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Duarte players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bahía were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bartolomé Minaya to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Duarte's Tito Aguilar got a free kick in the 55th minute. Bahía's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Duarte the free kick. After 61 played minutes Bahía got a freekick which was hit by Yorkis Albam. Bartolomé Minaya struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Valentin Lagos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Duarte. Duarte's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Florencio Rocha in the 64th minute. Valentin Lagos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolomé Minaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Duarte's zone, Baudelio Casas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Octavio Del Rio came out of the goal and Baudelio Casas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 87th minute, Bartolomé Minaya got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Duarte's Eusebio Canales got a free kick in the 89th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Florencio Rocha during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 92 minutes into the game, one of Duarte:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Herminio Figueroa shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Octavio Del Rio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baudelio Casas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Bahía supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bahía would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
