Salvador Albuquerque showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germán Cuenca, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Gustavino Bolaños recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fabio Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toribio Berger having to interfere. After 12 minutes of play, Yaguate's Fabio Moreno made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 48th match minute, Yaguate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ismael Correa to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Germán Cuenca made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Germán Cuenca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Salvador Albuquerque was relentless in the 54th minute of the game.
