In the 12th minute Roman Zabaleta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celino Cox saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bartolomeo Arredondo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albert Richardson in the 14th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Roman Zabaleta in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Celino Cox prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 21st match minute, SD Capotillo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jafet Angulo to maneuver through the defense. Roman Zabaleta struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Celino Cox didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esperalvillo. Roman Zabaleta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Celino Cox made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roman Zabaleta in the 29th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Cristóbal Grazia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celino Cox saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Ramón Miramontes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bartolomeo Arredondo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Esperalvillo's zone, Ramón Miramontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bartolomeo Arredondo came out of the goal and Ramón Miramontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ramón Miramontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albert Richardson made a kick off. When Ramón Miramontes came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the SD Capotillo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramón Miramontes couldn't finish the play. Gerónimo Elizondo took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bartolomeo Arredondo. Bartolomeo Arredondo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Cristóbal Grazia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Celino Cox tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Albert Richardson managed to get in a good position for a shot. SD Capotillo's supporters rose to their feet, but Albert Richardson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bartolomeo Arredondo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Esperalvillo's León Arbizu got a free kick in the 71st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Zabaleta in the 75th minute of play forced SD Capotillo's goalkeeper Celino Cox to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roman Zabaleta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerónimo Elizondo hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. 81 minutes into the game, Esperalvillo's Cristóbal Grazia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The audience was convinced that Roman Zabaleta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Celino Cox was relentless in the 86th minute of the game.
