Isaac Maldonado spun around in front of the goal 20 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Guaranas's goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isaac Maldonado got free with Alejandro Ibarra in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Carlos Albornoz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Bazán in the 24th minute of play. When Enrique Bazán came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Guaranas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Enrique Bazán couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnie Cifuentes in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Albornoz saved Los Cuervos from getting behind. Enrique Bazán might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Albornoz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enrique Bazán ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Albornoz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgar Sierra, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Carlos Albornoz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnie Cifuentes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes in the game, Roque Corrales fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Alejandro Ibarra having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Guaranas's zone, Roque Corrales stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alejandro Ibarra came out of the goal and Roque Corrales tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enrique Bazán to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Isaac Maldonado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Alejandro Ibarra was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Arnie Cifuentes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alejandro Ibarra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isaac Maldonado, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Alejandro Ibarra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Los Cuervos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Guaranas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
