Jorge Decoux showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diómedes Horford, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Bonifacio Mosquera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidoro Stewarts having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, Diómedes Horford notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Guzmán's Jorge Decoux. Jorge Decoux was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Clement Marichal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guzmán's supporters rose to their feet, but Clement Marichal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isidoro Stewarts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Decoux made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diómedes Horford in the 26th minute of play. Clement Marichal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Isidoro Stewarts read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. After 28 minutes, Asdrubal Ocampo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Platanal and the Guzmán players grew even worse after the yellow card. Asdrubal Ocampo hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Clement Marichal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidoro Stewarts having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Bonifacio Mosquera got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Guzmán's Félix Vallejo got a free kick in the 38th minute. In the 41stth minute of the game Idelfonso Cox who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guzmán's Jorge Decoux was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Diómedes Horford made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Guzmán's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Idelfonso Cox fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Idelfonso Cox took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jorge Decoux. Jorge Decoux dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. If Idelfonso Cox had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jorge Decoux was out of position in the 72 minute of play, and Diómedes Horford capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Diómedes Horford really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Idelfonso Cox could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Jorge Decoux made a huge save. When Luciano Saucedo fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guzmán's protests and gave Luciano Saucedo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Platanal booed when Guzmán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luciano Saucedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Isidoro Stewarts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bonifacio Mosquera, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Platanal's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
