Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Octavio Umaña started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agilberto Ferrer in the 8th minute of play forced Arroyo Blanco's goalkeeper Alfonso Parra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of La Romana booed when Arroyo Blanco was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toribio Burton didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th match minute, Arroyo Blanco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Casagrande to maneuver through the defense. Ignacio Cabañas hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Baldomero Arredondo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind La Romana's goalkeeper Amaury Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Toribio Burton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Amaury Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 27 played minutes La Romana got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Riveras. In the 28th minute, Germán Alaminos fired a really elegant long shot, but Amaury Noboa threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Agilberto Ferrer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alfonso Parra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonidas Friedman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Toribio Burton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arroyo Blanco's supporters rose to their feet, but Toribio Burton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amaury Noboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Leonidas Friedman struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Alfonso Parra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Romana. In the 60th minute Octavio Umaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amaury Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Baldomero Arredondo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amaury Noboa was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. When Agilberto Ferrer came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the La Romana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agilberto Ferrer couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Arroyo Blanco's Alfonso Parra got control of the ball when Agilberto Ferrer tried to sneak it across the goal line. Octavio Umaña fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amaury Noboa having to interfere. Leonidas Friedman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Alfonso Parra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Octavio Umaña put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Amaury Noboa. If Baldomero Arredondo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Toribio Burton during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Toribio Burton hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. La Romana's Amaury Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octavio Umaña in the 95th minute of play.
