Portage's Ali Belfaa got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tedj Belfaa struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Tedj Belfaa had several of the Portage's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 42 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Kamel Guessoum as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 46 played minutes St. Maries got a freekick which was hit by Chadli Souakri. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Smail Aarache managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portage's supporters rose to their feet, but Smail Aarache was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yacine Bourebbou breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ali Belfaa made a kick off. Yacine Bourebbou took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ali Belfaa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
