Anthar Gaouaoui fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hocine Bridji having to interfere. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Tayeb Madouni the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of American Falls protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tayeb Madouni had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 49 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for American Falls! After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
