Mourad N'Soumer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Velez Sarsfield. Mehdi Meniri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mourad N'Soumer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mehdi Zahouania stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Velez Sarsfield's Antoine Zidane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abdelnasser Bentaala in the 58th minute of play. Antoine Zidane showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amar Chadl, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. The supporters of Balmville booed when Velez Sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abdelhamid Zidān didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 82 minutes, Mehdi Meniri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Velez Sarsfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mehdi Meniri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Mehdi Zahouania could shoot a difficult shot in the 89th minute, which Mourad N'Soumer however easily saved by the left post. 93 minutes into the game, Amar Chadl cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Antoine Zidane was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
