The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ali Ighil made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Salah Yacine sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Hereford AFC booed when Fort Pierce South AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abdelaziz Gourion didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hereford AFC's Mohamed Boniche played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cheb Abbas in the 33rd minute of play. Ali Ighil stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nordine Brahimi's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Salah Yacine struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Fort Pierce South AFC's zone, Salah Yacine stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ali Ighil came out of the goal and Salah Yacine tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nordine Brahimi to make the kick off. Fort Pierce South AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hereford AFC the free kick.
