After 18 played minutes Wenatchee got a freekick which was hit by Ben El-Ouafi. Abdelmalek Meriem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. In the 22nd match minute, Fc Sydney was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abdelmalek Meriem to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute Abdelmalek Meriem shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cherif Madjer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Billel Doutté could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Cherif Madjer made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lazhar Djenia Lkbira in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hameur Kheyari prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Abdelmalek Meriem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Cherif Madjer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Wenatchee getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Hameur Kheyari was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Wenatchee were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
