If Souad Nasro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chadli Khaled took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafik Yahia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Souad Nasro struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Chadli Khaled didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ava. Tedj Hadjar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hocine Ouyahia having to interfere. Ava's Souad Nasro got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rafik Yahia to make the kick off. With a little luck, Ava's Hocine Ouyahia got control of the ball when Djamel Besseghir tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 60 minutes, Rafik Yahia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ava's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rafik Yahia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 66 minutes into the match, Rafik Yahia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chadli Khaled. Philipsburg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafik Yahia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Rafik Yahia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ava's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafik Yahia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chadli Khaled breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
