With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tayeb Fergani in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Medjadi Hadjadj saved Owego from getting behind. When Nabil Tahar came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Liecht Sports fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nabil Tahar couldn't finish the play. If Nabil Tahar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the game, Chadli Maillot was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liecht Sports's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Owego the free kick. In the 34th minute, Chadli Maillot hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute Tayeb Fergani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Medjadi Hadjadj saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Owego's Medjadi Hadjadj got control of the ball when Tayeb Fergani tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
