With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anthar Reda Madouni in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Knodi Djeballi saved South Middletown AFC from getting behind. Fateh Prévost hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. South Middletown AFC's Knodi Djeballi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boughera Benaouf in the 14th minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Anthar Reda Madouni managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chennai Super Kings's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anthar Reda Madouni was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Knodi Djeballi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anthar Reda Madouni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. South Middletown AFC's Knodi Djeballi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rabah Bouteflika in the 30th minute of play. If Mustapha Benhabiles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Boughera Benaouf managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chennai Super Kings's supporters rose to their feet, but Boughera Benaouf was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Knodi Djeballi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th minute, Boughera Benaouf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boughera Benaouf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Knodi Djeballi having to interfere. Anthar Reda Madouni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Boubekeur Haddou struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Knodi Djeballi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chennai Super Kings. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mohammad Maroc to strike the kick off in the second half. Chennai Super Kings's Rabah Bouteflika got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 68 minutes into the match, Chennai Super Kings's Anthar Reda Madouni sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Knodi Djeballi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 70th match minute, South Middletown AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mohammad Kaci Hima to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in South Middletown AFC's zone, Mustapha Benhabiles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Knodi Djeballi came out of the goal and Mustapha Benhabiles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samir Hanin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abderrachid Said, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anthar Reda Madouni got free with Knodi Djeballi in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chennai Super Kings played a much better game than South Middletown AFC and deserved their victory. The South Middletown AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
