Mourad Zeghdoud fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdelaziz Ghazi having to interfere. If Hakim Teissier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mourad Zeghdoud scored 0-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Abdelaziz Ghazi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Abdelaziz Ghazi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hakim Teissier went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 29th minute, Hakim Teissier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 36th minute Mourad Zeghdoud shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdelaziz Ghazi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abdelaziz Ghazi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hakim Teissier's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. 42 minutes into the match, West Melbourne's goal looked a bit too open when Hakim Teissier came free, but Abdelaziz Ghazi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Staunton's zone, Ahmed Belkheir stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kamel Liegeon came out of the goal and Ahmed Belkheir tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ahmed Chadl's late challenge caught a West Melbourne's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ahmed Chadl helped the player get up and apologised. In the 45th match minute, Staunton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahmed Chadl to maneuver through the defense.

The wind increased when Hakim Teissier made the kick off in the second half. When Staunton's Mourad Zeghdoud in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye West Melbourne's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mourad Zeghdoud got free with Abdelaziz Ghazi in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 65 minutes into the match, Ahmed Mamouni had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kamel Liegeon. Staunton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ahmed Mamouni was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Kamel Liegeon came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by West Melbourne's Ahmed Mamouni. But to his dismay, Ahmed Mamouni quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 93rd minute, Ahmed Belkheir got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Ahmed Belkheir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Staunton supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Staunton would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
