The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lakhdar Dahleb during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Pichichen getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Lakhdar Dahleb hit a great ball. Chih Hemdani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mustapha Piaf in the 22nd minute of play. St. Maries's Chih Hemdani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mustapha Piaf in the 23rd minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Pichichen's goalkeeper Salim Moussa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Said Semghoun. The audience was convinced that Mustapha Piaf's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chih Hemdani was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rachid Mezdad to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, St. Maries's Chakib Yahi got a free kick in the 54th minute. Pichichen's Noureddine Moussaoui shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 55th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Chih Hemdani but with some difficulty. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mohamed Arrache during the 56th minute. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 70 minutes into the match, St. Maries's goalkeeper Chih Hemdani had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mustapha Piaf. St. Maries's Said Semghoun got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Mustapha Piaf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Pichichen players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
