Cheb Akrour stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mehdi Belhadj's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Smail Hadj Aïssa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ben Bruel hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Independence's Rachid Baba Ali Reda Madouni got a free kick in the 54th minute. A collision led to Independence getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Farid Kharroubi hit a great ball. If Ismael Halimi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. In the 97th minute Smail Hadj Aïssa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cheb Akrour saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
