With a couple of smart ball manuevers Samir Bendjedid in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Belaid Bahari saved Gastonia from getting behind. 8 minutes into the match, Nassim Hamid notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Claypool FC's Mustapha Zéroual. Mustapha Zéroual was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gastonia's goalkeeper Belaid Bahari, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mustapha Zéroual made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Medjadi Belhadj in the 18th minute of play. Mohamed Ben Ahmed Nabil kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Nassim Hamid's late challenge caught a Claypool FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nassim Hamid helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Gastonia getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Nassim Hamid hit a great ball. 28 minutes into the match, Claypool FC's goal looked a bit too open when Medjadi Belhadj came free, but Mustapha Zéroual reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fawzi Boumedienne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Belaid Bahari having to interfere. In the 34th minute Medjadi Belhadj shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mustapha Zéroual saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nassim Hamid blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mustapha Zéroual having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samir Bendjedid in the 42nd minute of play forced Gastonia's goalkeeper Belaid Bahari to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fawzi Boumedienne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Medjadi Belhadj might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mustapha Zéroual. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Medjadi Belhadj ran back to his position shaking his head. Fawzi Boumedienne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Belaid Bahari having to interfere. Belaid Bahari took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fawzi Boumedienne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Samir Bendjedid came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Claypool FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samir Bendjedid couldn't finish the play. Fawzi Boumedienne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Belaid Bahari tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gastonia's Nassim Hamid got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Samir Bendjedid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Belaid Bahari tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Belaid Bahari made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fawzi Boumedienne in the 78th minute of play. Mustapha Fadhil Mohamed kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. The long shot by Noureddine Macias in the 81st minute really tested Belaid Bahari's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Mustapha Zéroual came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Gastonia's Medjadi Belhadj. But to his dismay, Medjadi Belhadj quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After 87 minutes, Edmond Bouzid mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Claypool FC and the Gastonia players grew even worse after the yellow card. Edmond Bouzid kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Claypool FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
