After 7 played minutes Edmonton got a freekick which was hit by Jack Staley. Henry Hawk in the 9thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ernest Poulin, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Henry Hawk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Poulin having to interfere. Henry Hawk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Ernest Poulin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jesus Langlais kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Stettler FC's goalkeeper Ernest Poulin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 25 minutes into the game, Prince Wallace was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stettler FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Edmonton the free kick. In the 25th minute, Prince Wallace hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wayne Youngblood could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Ernest Poulin made a huge save. Stacy Rancourt took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Linwood Melanson. Linwood Melanson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. When Edmonton's Henry Hawk in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Stettler FC's goalie prevented a goal. Linwood Melanson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stacy Rancourt in the 41st minute of the match. Stacy Rancourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Henry Hawk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernest Poulin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henry Hawk in the 46th minute. Henry Hawk who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 48thth minute tested the skills of Ernest Poulin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Edmonton booed when Stettler FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jackson Lacombe didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, Henry Hawk left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Edmonton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 81st minute of the match Jack Staley shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ernest Poulin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Stettler FC defense, Jack Staley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernest Poulin. The Stettler FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernest Poulin should have stopped the shot. After 90 played minutes Stettler FC got a freekick which was hit by Cortez Whitaker. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Barney Chalut during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Edmonton walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
