Edmund Sexton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valentin Aviles in the 5th minute of the match. Laurent Bartley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Wilbert Bellamy made a huge save. Dane Jimenez hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Laurent Bartley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilbert Bellamy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quincy McCall in the 23rd minute of play forced Cambridge's goalkeeper Wilbert Bellamy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 27 minutes, Valentin Aviles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cambridge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valentin Aviles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Son Hackett in the 28th minute of play forced Madawaska FC's goalkeeper Edmund Sexton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmund Sexton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Son Hackett went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 45th minute, Willian House hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valentin Aviles made a kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Madawaska FC's goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Aviles came free, but Edmund Sexton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valentin Aviles struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Edmund Sexton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cambridge. 58 minutes into the game, Bernie Cartwright was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Madawaska FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cambridge the free kick. Bernie Cartwright hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After 60 played minutes Cambridge got a freekick which was hit by Son Hackett. Son Hackett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmund Sexton having to interfere. The Madawaska FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. But to his dismay, Laurent Bartley quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. In the 74th minute, Jesse Conner hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76th minute Laurent Bartley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilbert Bellamy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Madawaska FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cambridge had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
