In the 3rd minute, Leopoldo Navarro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the last second John Cornett throw himself and got hold of the ball when Tyrone Marquez in the 9thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. John Cornett made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Joël Bragg sent off a good shot on target. Desmond Hodges hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Moses Tharp showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Branden Irvin in the 32nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Sexsmith's Randall Raines got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 36th minute of the match Mattice got a corner. Sexsmith's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jeffery Manuel ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Mattice's Jeffery Manuel to fire away a dangerous shot which Moses Tharp despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Leopoldo Navarro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Sexsmith's zone, Leopoldo Navarro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Moses Tharp came out of the goal and Leopoldo Navarro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Calvin Lacasse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 46 minutes into the game, Alphonso Bowser was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mattice's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sexsmith the free kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Branden Irvin was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute, Calvin Lacasse made a precise shot to the right of John Cornett. Mattice's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Moses Tharp made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Leopoldo Navarro sent off a good shot on target. Moses Tharp was out of position in the 61 minute of play, and Leopoldo Navarro capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Leopoldo Navarro really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Calvin Lacasse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Moses Tharp didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 85th minute, which inside left pole to 3-2. Desmond Hodges hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calvin Lacasse in the 94th minute of play forced Mattice's goalkeeper John Cornett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leopoldo Navarro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Moses Tharp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
