Baptiste Poirier ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Lane Echeverri sped through Connors FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dominic Ivey. Dominic Ivey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baptiste Poirier, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 42nd minute Baptiste Poirier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dominic Ivey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Connors FC defense, Kip Adair kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dominic Ivey. The Connors FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dominic Ivey should have stopped the shot.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Len Loiseau to make the kick off. Emanuel Ljungberg struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Dominic Ivey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Edmonton. The Connors FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Edmonton were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
