The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Bert Parks kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Rudy Plummer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bert Parks in the 9th minute of the match. In the 21st minute Norman Ritchie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elvis Lafontaine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Qausuittuq AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Norman Ritchie came free, but Elvis Lafontaine reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marin Ochoa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Rudy Plummer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Rudy Plummer successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Qausuittuq AFC booed when Ponoka AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenny Slater didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marin Ochoa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Qausuittuq AFC's Alberto Landers got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Marin Ochoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudy Plummer having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bert Parks was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Marin Ochoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rudy Plummer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Norman Ritchie might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elvis Lafontaine. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Norman Ritchie ran back to his position shaking his head. Elvis Lafontaine stood somewhat misplaced when Norman Ritchie came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 60 minute. Marin Ochoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudy Plummer having to interfere. Rudy Plummer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marin Ochoa's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. After some careless play in the Ponoka AFC defense, Marin Ochoa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rudy Plummer. The Ponoka AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rudy Plummer should have stopped the shot. Cleo Henley's late challenge caught a Qausuittuq AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cleo Henley helped the player get up and apologised. In the 84th minute, one of Ponoka AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ponoka AFC. Elvis Lafontaine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norman Ritchie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bert Parks in the 92nd minute of play forced Ponoka AFC's goalkeeper Rudy Plummer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Norman Ritchie in the 98th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elvis Lafontaine saved Qausuittuq AFC from getting behind. Qausuittuq AFC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Ponoka AFC for a fine match.
