Sarnia's Dominique Sauriol started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Niagara's Tommie Gougeon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean Herrington in the 3rd minute of play. Tommie Gougeon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillaume Curtis in the 6th minute of the match. Tommie Gougeon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominique Sauriol in the 10th minute of play. Dominique Sauriol fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommie Gougeon having to interfere. After having played for 15 minutes, Adam Shipp managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niagara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adam Shipp was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16th minute, Niagara's Forrest Guzman dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Alec Gipson kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Darrel Ohara was a little too slow when Lawrence Lagueux got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 27th minute. The score was now 2-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Forrest Guzman in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Darrel Ohara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alec Gipson kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 34 minutes into the game, Alec Gipson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sarnia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Niagara the free kick. Adam Shipp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Darrel Ohara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Forrest Guzman struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Darrel Ohara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Niagara. Sarnia's Darrel Ohara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Sarnia from getting a goal against them. Adam Shipp struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Darrel Ohara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Niagara. In the 45thth minute of the game Dominique Sauriol who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Niagara's Tommie Gougeon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Forrest Guzman to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Adam Shipp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guillaume Curtis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommie Gougeon having to interfere. Tommie Gougeon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominique Sauriol in the 60th minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Niagara's Forrest Guzman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Darrel Ohara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Lawrence Lagueux fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Niagara's protests and gave Lawrence Lagueux a yellow card for diving instead. In the 73rd match minute, Niagara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lawrence Lagueux to maneuver through the defense. Dominique Sauriol's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommie Gougeon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Tommie Gougeon made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Guillaume Curtis sent off a good shot on target.
