After having played for 38 minutes, Leon Nadeau managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hectanooga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leon Nadeau was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dirk Aponte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Connie Kimbrough showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benito Cutler in the 42nd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Rich Dubois put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Connie Kimbrough. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benito Cutler was the one to do the kick off. Connie Kimbrough made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Rich Dubois sent off a good shot on target. Hectanooga's Connie Kimbrough proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Hectanooga from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Humboldt FC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Cristopher Fuller hit a great ball. In the 73rd minute, Benito Cutler fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Dirk Aponte succeeded in the game's 76th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-2. In the 79th match minute, Hectanooga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ermenegilde Babcock to maneuver through the defense. When Benito Cutler came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Humboldt FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benito Cutler couldn't finish the play. After 90 played minutes, Hectanooga's Louis Cote shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rickey Delarosa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hectanooga reached it. In the 93rd minute, Dirk Aponte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rickey Delarosa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2.
