After a defensive mix-up in Humboldt FC's zone, Vincenzo Brodeur stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rickey Delarosa came out of the goal and Vincenzo Brodeur tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peter Zimmerman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 23 played minutes Humboldt FC got a freekick which was hit by Genaro Rush. If Vincenzo Brodeur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joseph Akins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benito Cutler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Cutler scored 1-0 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joseph Akins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Peter Zimmerman came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Carmel AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peter Zimmerman couldn't finish the play. Larry Colbert kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Benito Cutler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Joseph Akins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rich Dubois received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 2-0 became the score in the 66th minute when Benito Cutler elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Carmel AFC's Joseph Akins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rich Dubois in the 84th minute of play. Humboldt FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Peter Zimmerman 86 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. Vincenzo Brodeur was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 92nd minute. Carmel AFC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Humboldt FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Carmel AFC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
