The audience was convinced that Terence Christensen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Monty Vaughan was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. 22 minutes into the match, Broadview's goal looked a bit too open when Timothée Casgrain came free, but Monty Vaughan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Timothée Casgrain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Monty Vaughan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jim Coffey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Wrigley were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a rather tough play, Wrigley's Evan Villarreal got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Milo Barrera hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Wrigley's Timothée Casgrain suffered a sore thigh after 66 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 67th minute, Ferdinand Kane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Monty Vaughan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Buford Gould in the 73rd minute. If Denny Caldwell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 80 minutes of play Broadview's Milo Barrera was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Broadview getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Milo Barrera hit a great ball. The long shot by Dorian Leblanc in the 82nd minute really tested Monty Vaughan's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Giovanni Law struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Tom Donnelly didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Broadview. When Broadview's Giovanni Law in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wrigley's goalie prevented a goal. In the 93rd minute, Jim Coffey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Wrigley supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Wrigley would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
