The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Greg Newell to maneuver through the defense. Sylvester Raines sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bernie Arroyo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sylvester Raines, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the game, Manchester United's Chung Grier nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bernie Arroyo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacques Labbé in the 34th minute of play forced Beebe's goalkeeper Bernie Arroyo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jacques Labbé in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bernie Arroyo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jacques Labbé fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernie Arroyo having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

If Sylvester Raines had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 minutes, Chung Grier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manchester United and the Beebe players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 58 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Chung Grier. If Jimmie Gorman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute Alfonzo Abrams shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rich Lane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manchester United's Rich Lane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimmie Gorman in the 64th minute of play. Rich Lane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonzo Abrams in the 68th minute of play. Jimmie Gorman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Rich Lane tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jimmie Gorman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rich Lane showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimmie Gorman, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Alfonzo Abrams sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 88 minutes in the game, Jimmie Gorman dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester United's zone, Jimmie Gorman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rich Lane came out of the goal and Jimmie Gorman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jimmie Gorman in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rich Lane saved Manchester United from getting behind. Sylvester Raines sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Manchester United had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
