When Marty Cardenas came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Matheson FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marty Cardenas couldn't finish the play. Abdul Nesbitt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Lampron in the 48th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Cliffside FC's zone, Lawerence Scales stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. After 67 played minutes Matheson FC got a freekick which was hit by Léonard Zamora. Raymond Snyder in the 68thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. The supporters of Matheson FC booed when Cliffside FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robin Lizotte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marty Cardenas dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Cliffside FC's Leandro Labrecque played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marty Cardenas in the 97th minute of play. Cliffside FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
