Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 30th minute Joe Bain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabien Gibson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Cyril Leonard came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Hawkesbury AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cyril Leonard couldn't finish the play. Augustus Kaplan kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Humberto Doiron made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Keneth Murdock sent off a good shot on target. Keneth Murdock's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Humberto Doiron read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cyril Leonard made a kick off. Hawkesbury AFC's Fabien Gibson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joe Bain in the 51st minute of play. After having played for 53 minutes, Augustus Kaplan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Viking's supporters crossed their fingers, but Augustus Kaplan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Viking booed when Hawkesbury AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kris Grant didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joe Bain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Fabien Gibson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyril Leonard in the 66th minute of play forced Viking's goalkeeper Humberto Doiron to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabien Gibson came out of the goal and Joe Bain tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 87th minute, Kris Grant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Keneth Murdock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Humberto Doiron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Keneth Murdock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Hawkesbury AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Viking's performance. The match ended with a win for Viking.
