Spectators: 6717 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1717, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Thurman Smallwood started the match with the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thurman Smallwood in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilbert Minton saved Cottonwood FC from getting behind. Humberto Doiron was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Carl Love. In the 13th minute Joe Bain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilbert Minton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 18 minutes, Dexter Desaulniers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cottonwood FC and the Viking players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 18th match minute, Cottonwood FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dexter Desaulniers to maneuver through the defense. During the 19th minute of the match Dexter Desaulniers completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Dexter Desaulniers a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Cottonwood FC booed when Viking was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joe Bain didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cottonwood FC's Gilbert Minton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joe Bain in the 24th minute of play. Clyde Ryder could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Humberto Doiron made a huge save. Alvaro Acevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Viking's zone, Kelvin Ernst stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Humberto Doiron came out of the goal and Kelvin Ernst tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilbert Minton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joe Bain in the 31st minute of the match. A collision led to Cottonwood FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Damon Ware hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thurman Smallwood in the 42nd minute of play forced Cottonwood FC's goalkeeper Gilbert Minton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clyde Ryder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Humberto Doiron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alvaro Acevedo struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Humberto Doiron didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cottonwood FC. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clyde Ryder to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clyde Ryder in the 53rd minute of play forced Viking's goalkeeper Humberto Doiron to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cottonwood FC's goalkeeper Gilbert Minton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 57th minute, Clyde Ryder got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Cottonwood FC's Kelvin Ernst got a free kick in the 59th minute. If Joe Bain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thurman Smallwood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joe Bain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice moves Joe Bain could shoot a difficult shot in the 74th minute, which Gilbert Minton however easily saved by the left post. If Joe Bain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Thurman Smallwood came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Viking fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thurman Smallwood couldn't finish the play. Cottonwood FC's Clyde Ryder got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joe Bain who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Gilbert Minton when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
