The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Dorsey Brousse came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Hollyburn fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dorsey Brousse couldn't finish the play. Aron Lacroix might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jordon Achin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aron Lacroix ran back to his position shaking his head. If Burt McIntyre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Loyd Leach in the 22nd minute of play forced Kingsclear FC's goalkeeper Jordon Achin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th match minute, Hollyburn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgard Zamora to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute Dorsey Brousse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordon Achin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gary McLaughlin to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Hollyburn defense, Gary McLaughlin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anton Benedict. The Hollyburn fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anton Benedict should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aron Lacroix in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jordon Achin saved Kingsclear FC from getting behind. Anton Benedict showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gary McLaughlin in the 62nd minute of the match. Burt McIntyre blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Anton Benedict having to make a save. 70 minutes into the game, Ben Bousquet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kingsclear FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hollyburn the free kick. A collision led to Kingsclear FC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Ben Bousquet hit a great ball. Anton Benedict showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gary McLaughlin in the 73rd minute of the match. Gary McLaughlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Dorsey Brousse came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Hollyburn fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dorsey Brousse couldn't finish the play. In the 85th minute, Kingsclear FC's Dick Lara seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Dick Lara the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Kingsclear FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Dick Lara had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 85 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Kingsclear FC! If Aron Lacroix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Kingsclear FC had won after a very even match.
