The supporters of Hanley booed when Shabagua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerold Moreland didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Hanley's Francis Brock threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Randy Delaney, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Shabagua's Wilbert Douglas got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kieth Finley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilbert Douglas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 69 minutes into the game, Carl Fritz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Kieth Finley was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Randy Delaney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Lino Neff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
