Seating: 1717, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Denver Baril got the match started through his kick off. Tommy Flanagan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aron Guinn having to interfere. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Griswold's goalkeeper Robby Escobedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tommy Flanagan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommy Flanagan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aron Guinn having to interfere. A collision led to Blackwater getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Lavern Provencher hit a great ball. 34 minutes into the match, Blackwater's goal looked a bit too open when Emerson Barger came free, but Aron Guinn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the game, Blackwater's Elvin Saucier nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Robby Escobedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. If Denver Baril had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tommy Flanagan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Emerson Barger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Aron Guinn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Millard Hough hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanh Prescott hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Emerson Barger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Aron Guinn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tommy Flanagan struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Aron Guinn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Griswold. After a rather tough play, Blackwater's Thanh Prescott got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Francesco Negron's late challenge caught a Griswold's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francesco Negron helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Blackwater getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Francesco Negron hit a great ball. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 78th minute, when Griswold's Séverin Castaneda after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Aron Guinn in Blackwater's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. The supporters of Griswold booed when Blackwater was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justin Loiselle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tommy Flanagan hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Griswold's Robby Escobedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thanh Prescott in the 96th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Griswold players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Blackwater.
