Jamaal Childs came out of the goal and Sebastian Baril tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 28 minutes, Josue Tang managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Finnegan FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Josue Tang was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Finnegan FC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Raymond Braden hit a great ball. When Barrett Bonilla came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Sunnyslope fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barrett Bonilla couldn't finish the play. Barrett Bonilla's late challenge caught a Finnegan FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Barrett Bonilla helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th minute, Barrett Bonilla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sebastian Baril received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Jamaal Childs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Barrett Bonilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Danial Oliver fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sunnyslope's protests and gave Danial Oliver a yellow card for diving instead. Danial Oliver kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. If Burton Middleton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The Finnegan FC fans' excitement grew in the 55th match minute when Finnegan FC's Burton Middleton looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Finnegan FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Josue Tang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sam Douglas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot by Toussaint Guertin from long distance, 81 minutes into the match, got Jamaal Childs's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. A collision led to Sunnyslope getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Danial Oliver hit a great ball.
