The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valentine Franks during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 23 played minutes Verwood got a freekick which was hit by Valentine Franks. In the 24th minute Julius Castle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Billy Casgrain saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeromy Larson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Billy Casgrain made a huge save. Dover FC's Julius Castle got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jamie Hurley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Deschenes in the 35th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Jeromy Larson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Billy Casgrain. Verwood's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jeromy Larson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 42 played minutes, Dover FC's Agustin Johnson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Billy Casgrain came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Dover FC reached it. Jamie Hurley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saul Deschenes in the 43rd minute of the match. Eric Bonilla hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julius Castle in the 49th minute of play forced Verwood's goalkeeper Billy Casgrain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Julius Castle made the kick off in the second half. If Julius Castle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Billy Casgrain stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julius Castle's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Verwood's zone, Jeromy Larson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Billy Casgrain came out of the goal and Jeromy Larson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julius Castle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 70 played minutes Verwood got a freekick which was hit by Freddy Knox. Julius Castle might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Billy Casgrain. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Julius Castle ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 78th match minute, Verwood was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eric Bonilla to maneuver through the defense. Jeromy Larson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 89th match minute, Dover FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Douglass Larkin to maneuver through the defense. Caleb Bird recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 94thth minute of the game Jeromy Larson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Verwood's Billy Casgrain was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 96 minutes into the game, Verwood's Eric Bonilla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jamie Hurley made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Verwood walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
