Etobicoke's Clyde Maher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigue Kerns in the 19th minute of play. Oscar Petrie went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Spiritwood FC's Bud Schmitt to fire away a dangerous shot which Clyde Maher despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 36th minute, Cortez Adair got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 1-0 became the score in the 41st minute when Joel Sirois elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Sirois to make the kick off.
