The audience thought a goal was coming when Eli Ingram got free with Walter Vaughn in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Marcus Darden's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Walter Vaughn was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. If Eli Ingram had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eli Ingram had several of the Howick FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 22 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Walter Vaughn as he didn't even see the shot coming. Howick FC's Tyson Mott got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th match minute, Matador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doyle Andrews to maneuver through the defense. Warren Reece made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tyson Mott in the 30th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eli Ingram got free with Walter Vaughn in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Walter Vaughn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Darden in the 39th minute of play. After 43 minutes of play, Howick FC's Henry Barrett made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Warren Reece was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tyson Mott to strike the kick off in the second half. If Henry Barrett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Howick FC booed when Matador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doyle Andrews didn't get a good kick on the ball. Henry Barrett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Warren Reece tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute of the game, Murray Cuevas landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 70 minutes, Jarred Turgeon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Howick FC and the Matador players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Howick FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Jarred Turgeon hit a great ball. Doyle Andrews, 72 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Howick FC's Walter Vaughn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eli Ingram in the 75th minute of play. Warren Reece didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 81st minute, which inside left pole to 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Eli Ingram managed to get in a good position for a shot. Matador's supporters rose to their feet, but Eli Ingram was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Walter Vaughn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 91 minutes into the match, Matador's goalkeeper Warren Reece had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henry Barrett. Howick FC's Walter Vaughn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Pitts in the 95th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Howick FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
