Spectators: 6729 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1729, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mitchell Storey started the match with the kick off. 5 minutes into the match, Duvernay FC's goalkeeper Terry Baxter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Garrett Cunningham. After 13 played minutes, Duvernay FC's King Barrow shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edwardo Conley came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Duvernay FC reached it. Merrickville FC's Garrett Cunningham got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Merrickville FC's Victor Santana got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mitchell Storey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Edwardo Conley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Duvernay FC's zone, Garrett Cunningham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Terry Baxter came out of the goal and Garrett Cunningham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Duvernay FC's Terry Baxter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Duvernay FC from getting a goal against them. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Merrickville FC's goalkeeper Edwardo Conley, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 34 minutes of play, Duvernay FC's Mitchell Storey made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edwardo Conley was left in no man's land by his defense there! Merrickville FC's Victor Santana got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Terry Baxter was a little too slow when Victor Santana got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 47th minute. The score was now 1-2. After the first half Duvernay FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute, Andreas Jacobsen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Terry Baxter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victor Santana's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. With a little luck, Merrickville FC's Edwardo Conley got control of the ball when Christophe Potter tried to sneak it across the goal line. Garrett Cunningham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Victor Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terry Baxter having to interfere. The supporters of Merrickville FC booed when Duvernay FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marin Laberge didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Garrett Cunningham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mitchell Storey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terry Baxter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Santana, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Duvernay FC! The audience was convinced that Victor Santana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Terry Baxter was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
