The supporters of Douglastown booed when Sperling was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Numbers LondeLalonde didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Eric Phaneuf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erick Provencher blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Steve Carlton having to make a save. 30 minutes into the match, Grady Kline notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Douglastown's Lothaire Petersen. Lothaire Petersen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Douglastown's Erick Provencher got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Sperling's Numbers LondeLalonde got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 41st minute Bryce Keith shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lothaire Petersen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Douglastown's Lothaire Petersen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grady Kline in the 45th minute of play. Grady Kline took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lothaire Petersen. Lothaire Petersen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erick Provencher was the one to do the kick off. Lothaire Petersen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grady Kline in the 60th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Sperling's goal looked a bit too open when Eric Phaneuf came free, but Steve Carlton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Douglastown's Eric Phaneuf got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute, Bryce Keith ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lothaire Petersen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Géraud Hartman kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, Douglastown's goalkeeper Lothaire Petersen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bryce Keith. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sperling walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
